Books on Wheels for Hulett Combine School

27 July 2025

Bringing books into classrooms

KwaCele Farming provided a trolley-based mobile library to Hulett Combine School under Principal Mr Mhlongo. The mobile library offers reading materials that can be moved between classrooms, helping teachers and learners access books.

The initiative aims to support literacy, reading confidence and educational opportunity.

What the project delivered

The mobile library was handed over with the school leadership and can be moved between classrooms. By keeping a collection of books accessible to teachers and pupils, the initiative creates more opportunities for reading within ordinary school activities.

Why this matters

Many rural learners face challenges accessing dedicated libraries or travelling to centres with reading resources. A trolley-based collection helps reduce that barrier and gives teachers a practical way to share books throughout the school.

KwaCele hopes the project will encourage reading confidence, literacy and a culture of engagement with books.

Future ambitions

The published story describes aspirations to monitor use and feedback, consider similar projects at other rural schools, and explore book drives or reading events that would build on the initial donation.
